Our events in Germany

Board meetings

Usually, the members of the Indian Forum’s executive board hold their monthly board meeting every second Thursday of the month. All members and other interested people are most welcome to join the meetings as guests. At the board meetings we plan upcoming activities and report about the progress of individual projects. In addition, our field workers in India inform us about the current status of the projects.

Annual meeting

Every year in May or June, we have our annual meeting, at which all members, friends, and contributors of the Indian Forum are welcome. At the meeting we report about our projects in India and Germany in the previous year, and inform our members about the newest developments of the scholarship recipients at the Indian partner schools. Moreover, important questions for the development of our association and its projects are being discussed and decided upon here. Every two years, elections for the executive board are being held at the annual meeting.

Scholarshipt seminar

Approximately every two years, we hold a scholarship seminar. All scholarship donors, who finance school for young Indian students at our partner schools, as well as other interested people are welcome to join this seminar. Within the framework of the seminar we inform about the personal development of the individual scholarship holders and discuss questions on the general focus of the program and its implementation.

Christmas market in Alt-Marzahn

The Indian Forum takes part in the Christmas market in Alt-Marzahn, Berlin, with an own booth for many years. The market takes place every year on the first Sunday of advent around the village church in the historic village of Marzahn. At our booth in the parish hall’s backyard, we offer self-made Indian chai, our calendars for the coming year, as well as all kinds of Indian products. In addition, the visitors can inform themselves about our association, and about our projects in India.

Harvest festival in Alt-Marzahn

We also participate in the Alt-Marzahn harvest festival for several years now. It takes place every year in early September in the village of Alt-Marzahn. On the large farmer's market, we have a booth where we promote the Indian Forum, and at which we offer traditional snacks and products from India in return for donations.

Tagore schoolyard festival

Once a year, the Marzahn-based Tagore School organizes a schoolyard festival. The Indian Forum takes part in this festival, as we actively support the school partnership of the Tagore School with Indian schools and assist in the regular students exchange programs.

Our events in India

Youth centre

In the newly founded youth center in Chaibasa, regular events for the young members of the community are organized in cooperation with our Indian partner NGOs Sarjom, Gossner Mission, as well as the Student Christian Movement. Within this framework, we already arranged information and education events for young people, as well as a workshop on the topic of “Social Responsibility“.

Student exchange trips

During the student exchange trips between India and Germany, that take place at irregular intervals, we organize all kinds of events. In the case of visits from German students in India, this includes performances at the Indian-German Culture Program, rehearsing and performing stages plays, as well as joint painting and sports competitions. At least one member of the Indian Forum always accompanies the student exchange group and supports the organization and implementation of the events.
During the return visits of Indian students in Germany, the Indian Forum helps with the organization of visas and airline tickets, arranges theater plays and other events, and provides advisory support for the partners in Berlin anytime.
